1977-1992

Sep. 26, 1977

National Unification and Mission to North Korea was organized.

Nov. 19, 1977

The first symposium of North Korea Studies was held.

Apr. 29, 1978

The second symposium of North Korea Studies was held.

Jun. 17, 1978

The third symposium of North Korea Studies was held.

Nov. 20, 1978

The All Nation Rally of Mission to North Korea was held and the Declaration of National Unification was declared.

Apr. 21, 1979

The fourth symposium of North Korea Studies was held.

Jun. 23, 1979

The fifth symposium of North Korea Studies was held.

Jul. 31, 1979

The sixth symposium of North Korea Studies was held.

Aug. 30, 1979

The Korea Study Institute in the William Carey International University was established and began national unification studies and mission to North Korea development.

1980 - 1982

Rev. Zawa Masahiko of Japan was appointed as a research fellow of North Korean chuch studies and began North Korea related documents analize in the States.

Apr. 3, 1983

North Korea Christian Federation published the Bible and Hymn.

Apr. 30, 1984

North Korea Christian Federation published Old Testament.

Dec. 19, 1988

Reconciliation of the Nation and Peaceful Unification Symposium was held at the Christian Academy House, Suwon, Korea.

January 1989

David Dongjin Cho, Director of Institute of Korea Studies of William Carey International University received an invitation from North Korea. He visited North Korea and attended the Sunday morning service of Pyong Yang Bong-Soo Church and met leaders of North Korean Christian Federation.

May 1990

Kim Il Sung university and Kim Hyung Jick Teachers’ College sent invitation to the Presidents of William Carey International University. Dr. Dale W. Kietzman and Dr. Charles Wickman visited North Korea with Dr. David Dongjin Cho.

November 1990

Again, North Korean Christian Federation invited David Dongjin Cho and he was able to visit North Korea as third time. The Pyong Yang Seminary appointed David Dongjin Cho as Visiting Professor.

June 1991

William Carey International Univsrsity, Institute of Korea Studies invited North Korea national unification scholors (Mr. Shi Hae Han, former North Korea Ambassador to UN; Dr. Kyu Shik Kim; Dr. Soong Duk Park; Mr. Chul Soo Ro; Rev. Key Joon Koh; Ms. Ok Hee Choi; Ms. Hae Sook Kim)

Jun. 6, 1991

David Dongjin Cho visited President Jimmy Carter with Mr. Shi Hae Han, former North Korean Ambassador to UN, and his assistants. Mr. Han gave North Korean President Kim Il Sung’s invitation to Pyong Yang to President Jimmy Carter.

September 1991

David Dongjin Cho visited as fourth visit to Pyong Yang by the invitation of Kim Il Sung University and lectured at the university as a Visiting Professor and Pyong Yang Seminary.

May 1992

Through the cooperation of Dr. Jong Koo Park of Korea Christian Publishers Association, 2,517 volumns of Christian books were donated to the Kim Il Sung University. David Dongjin Cho was able to have fifth visit to Pyong Yang with the donated books. The official ceremony was held for the donation of Christian books to the library of Kim Il Sung University and Dr. Cho’s special lecture was delievered to over hundreds of professors of the university. He also preached at Bong-Soo Church on Sunday. Hw was invited to the Presidential Palace of Kim Il Sung. The Chairman Kim Il Sung received him and his wife very warmly and had one-hour talks and offered welcome lunch for him. Kim Il Sungs’s highest officials joined together.

1992-1995

September 1992

David Dongjin Cho made his sixth trip to North Korea with two Vice-President, Dr. Dalw W. Kietzman and Charles A. Wickman, and lectured at the Kim Il Sung University and preached at Bong-Soo Church, Pyong Yang.

March 1993

Mission to North Korea Committee of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Korea appointed Dr. David Dongjin Cho as the Chief Consultant to contact North Korean government.

April 1993

David Dongjin Cho made his seventh visit to Pyong Yang and preached at Bong-Soo Church & Chil-Gol Church. He was again invited to the Presidential Palace of Chairman, Kim Il Sung. Kim Il Sung expressed condolence on Dr. Cho’s wife’s death last year. They had a long discussion for the nomalization of relationship with the United States and unification with South Korea.

Apr. 3, 1994

David Dongjin Cho made the eighth visit to Pyong Yang. After the Resurrection Sunday Service sermon at Bong-Soo Church, he visited Kim Il Sung and attended a grand party of the national leaders for the diplomats of many countries to celebrate his birthday. David Dongjin Cho joined at the head table and set with Kim Il Sung.

Apr. 19, 1994

David Dongjin Cho with Mr. Yong Soon Kim, Chairman of National Unification Planning Committee of the National Supreme Peoples Congress, discussed the plan of the Ezra Project.

May 1, 1994

National Unification and Mission to North Korea Movement was enlarged as The Ezra Movement to take shape church of the people and national unification and to expand as the public national unification movement to abroad.

May 25, 1994

Drs. Chun Il Cho, Daniel Dongso Jho, Young Jae Lee, and Hun Woo Choi, the representatives of US Commission of the Ezra Movement, visited North Korea and met the North Korean Christian Federation leaders and Unification Commission of Supreme Peoples Congress leaders. They discussed upon the Ezra Project plan for church of the people and national unification movements among the Korean compatriots in the States.

Jun. 25, 1994

The open latter to observe special service on June 25, Sunday, for the national unification and take shaping church of North Korea peoples, was sent by the name of the Ezra Project to every churches of South Korea.

Jul. 4, 1994

David Dongjin Cho met Mr. Jong Huck Lee, Vice Chairman of Asia-Pacific Peace Commission of North Korea, and Mr. Kyung Nam Chun, Vice Chairman of Overseas Compatriots Supporting Commission of North Korea in Beijing to discuss concerning the Ezra Project for national unification and church of peoples take shaping and normalization of America and North Korea relationship issues.

Aug. 15, 1994

The invitation letter for the Iaugural Convention was sent to over 5,000 churches in South Korea.

Aug. 30, 1994

The Center for American-North Korean Understanding/CANKU was formed in the United States. Four representatives, Dr. David Dongjin Cho, Dr. Charles Wickman, Mr. Michael Little, and Dan Wooding, visited Pyong Yang. It was the ninth visit. They discussed with North Korean high officers to find the way of normalization of United States and North Korea relationship.

Nov. 7, 1994

Three of the Ezra Project US representatives, Re. Danirl Dongso Jho, Mr. Chun Myung Chun, and Rev. Duk Soo Han, visited North Korea.

Jan. 23, 1995

The Inaugural Convention and the first National Rally of the Ezra Project was held at the Education Culture Center of Seoul with over 1,500 delegates.

February 1995

David Dongjin Cho made the tenth visit to Pyong Yang, North Korea. He invited Mr. Jong Huck Lee, Vice Chairman of Asia Pacific Peace Commission of North Korea, to the United States by the name of the Institute of Korea Studies, William Carey International University. Mr. Lee came to the States with three assistants and met Dr. Pet Robertson, and visited New York, Washington D.C., Chicago and California and met many American Christian leaders . They also visited Korean churches in the States between February 20 to March 7, 1995.

Mar. 30, 1995

David Dongjin Cho established the Institute of National Unification Environment Studies in Seoul, Korea.

May 6, 1995

David Dongjin Cho made the eleventh visit to Pyong Yang, North Korea and arranged to invite American Christian college presidents to North Korea. Six presidents made a trip to North Korea for one week from June 6 to 12, 1995.

Aug. 10, 1995

David Dongjin Cho made the twelveth visit to Pyong Yang, North Korea and arranged ‘Love Homeland Program’ and publishing Bible.

Oct. 12, 1995

The Ezra Project was incorporated as a Juridical Coporate Aggregateon to the National Unification Department of the Republic of Korea.
